Description

Another song title, but this time I can't link you to it because it's not available on YouTube in my country...
I found an old (but very progressed) WIP of this while I was organizing my hard drive recently. I think I had originally started working on this in 2012 but gave up on it because it was simply out of my skill level at the time. It was a true pleasure to go back and complete this gift for my boyfriend, Ryoseth-CP. The image isn't quite as refined as what I've been putting out lately but I thought that maybe the simpler shading would be nice for a change. I hope you enjoy it.

Hello! You don't bother me! Unfortunately, it's a bit complex to explain how to paint an entire picture, but I'm happy to help with a more narrow question. Is there something specific you'd like to learn about?

Thank you shinerai ! :D it's okay
Okay , the rough painting ... what are the first thing should i do ? Sketch , add a base colour , and then what's next ? And , something i want to know is , how to colour it ( if the colour you use is grey or other )? In my Photoshop , there are no colour layer ...
I just can do a soft painting ...
I'm sorry if i have a lots question ...

It's okay that you have lots of questions! As for painting, I find that sometimes it is simply personal preference. Sometimes, people will start with a sketch and then paint under it. I've even seen some people do line-art and paint that. You could also just do some simple block painting and refine it as you go. I personally like to make a sketch and then paint right on top of it, working my sketch into the finished painting. Here, I've made a step-by-step of one of my paintings --> Progress: Cognoscente.

As for whether I use color, it just depends on how I feel! If the character has some pretty simple color scheme, then I'll usually start and finish in color. I'll get my basic colors laid down and use the eyedropper as I refine to do the details. If the character has some complex markings, then I'll probably start in grayscale and apply the colors later. I'm not sure which art program you use, but if you use Photoshop, you can apply this method in any version --> Tutorial: Adding Color With Gradient Maps

I hope this information helps! Feel free to ask more questions.

Gaaaahhhh I am in love with this. It looks so peaceful up there where he is...in the clouds, high above the ground. ♥
The style of coloring / shading is simply beautiful; I think it suits the atmosphere/feel of the scene really well. And that hair looks silky and run-your-fingers-through-it gorgeous. I would definitely not mind seeing more art from you in this, as you called it, simpler shading style. I find it very eye-pleasing. ♥

hey sheen this is so very cool! I really like how clean and stylized the shapes look!! and also how neato your coloring is~ ~ this shading looks really refined but yet looks so efficient! The scales and forearm are my favorites parts; they almost look like 3d rendering :D Your lineless works are always stunning ;;; <3

I love this!! The softer shading style really works well. His design is so cool, too. I love the combination of the blues and golds with the white. Sometimes its nice and even better to simplify projects. Because those who actually love us the most will appreciate a gift that has had effort put into than anything else. It would be cool to see your dragon characters together.

Right? I'm still trying to figure out a reference for one of my dragons. My main concern right now is, unfotunately, finding a new place to live that I can afford. Takes up a lot of my concentration at the moment....
