Description
My long overdue ShinXChange entry for AshasCadence of her Nagendra character named Hydra! The image was supposed to be autumn themed but I didn't pull it off very well. Wasn't for the lack of trying though!This took me forever and ten days to paint but I am really proud of it. I thoroughly enjoyed Hydra's challenging anatomy (those arms. . . ) and I REALLY enjoyed painting the markings. It was exciting to get to take my gradient map coloring method to the next level. I have to say that this is possibly the most complicated character I've ever drawn (for now).
Either way, I haven't eaten today so that's probably all I have to say!

Very well made portrait!
Can I tweak this creature's kind so that it can fit in my alternative natural history of Earth, alongside my flying dragons? Pretty much, in this alternative world, the first fishes that ever came out of the water had six lobed fins instead of four, thus ending up making the clade “hexapoda” of the “chordata” (vertabrates) phyle. This happened owing to a few key happenings that I'll not explain here owing to the list being too detailed for this comment. And that's where it starts to diverge from the Earth we live in. There never was magic in this world, too.
