It's me, Shin! I have a day job but spend my free time working on arts and crafts. I draw mostly dragons and creatures but I'm trying to challenge myself with other things. Aw hey thanks for saying that! I'm glad to be found by folks who remember me. Also, I read your journal and just wanted to say, I'm honestly wishing you the best. I really hope you are able to find your something. Unfortunately, dA isn't a great place right now for artists - I recommend trying out Sheezy if you want a friendly and low pressure community. Also, not trying to advertise myself or anything, but I stream on Twitch Sunday afternoons and Wednesday nights, and it's usually really chill and wholesome and people in the chat share their art sometimes, and if you are interested in meeting some really nice folks, maybe you can peek in some time c:

Haha yeah the art social ecosystem is a strange place right now! There's really no solid alternative if what you are looking for is a dA-replacement. There have been a few startup attempts (like artrise, buzzly, artgram and even sheezy 2 years ago) which have all failed or are on the brink of failing (inkblot). Tumblr made a comeback after it changed ownership but people are hesitant again now that they seem to be supporting AI. Twitter of course is a hellhole, but actually there's a decent art scene on bluesky which is a Twitter-style platform. I think bsky is pretty nice, but I'm really looking for a dA-style site rather than a twitter-style one.
There are others like cohost, artfol, and cara but I dont know much about them - they tend to be either niche or mobile only.
sheezy didn't do well 2 years ago and there are a lot of reasons - but I'm optimistic about its revival. the creator is the dev and they have done a great job of addressing concerns from the previous attempt, and I really think there's a lot of potential. The community is small, but it feels nice c:
